Selfridges’ windows spread Christmas cheer

Selfridges is proud to be ahead of much of its department store competition, having recently announced record-breaking financial results for the year ending 3 February 2018, for the fifth year running. Sales reached over £1.75 billion (+11.5%) and operating profit rose to a record £181 million. The retailer has been investing in both stores and digital platforms.

Anne Pitcher, managing director of Selfridges commented: “We are delighted to deliver such fantastic results, despite difficult retail conditions and consumer confidence uncertainties. We continue to challenge ourselves to be daring in all aspects of our global strategy and to present extraordinary destinations for our customers.” She added: “We are optimistic for further growth in 2018, with more new openings and all to play for in the run up to Christmas – where you can expect the unexpected.”

Meanwhile, the luxury department store was the first to launch its Christmas windows, with the theme of ‘glam rock’ Santas, in keeping with its ‘Selfridges Rocks Christmas’ campaign. The be-dazzling rock and roll windows are a feature of London, Manchester and Birmingham stores. They include more than 85,000 baubles, 200 Christmas trees and 65,000 pieces of paper confetti released from cannons every day.
