BK’s Louisa in BBC news

Louisa Doyle, sales associate at Borough Kitchen and a finalist in the Excellence in Housewares 2019 Retail Employee award category is the focus of a BBC news story (February 5).

Besides being a passionate home cook and foodie, Louisa is a fully trained nurse, specialising in chemotherapy treatment. She worked in this field in her homeland of Australia for five years before coming to the UK.

The news story highlights Louisa’s long wait for accreditation from the UK’s Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), needed before getting nursing work for the NHS, and that she is due to fly home to Australia as she still has not heard whether she is eligible to register.

Louisa told the BBC: “I came to London two years ago and have been working in kitchenware sales and travelling.” She added: “I wanted to stay and wanted to work for the NHS. I now face having to come back to do an exam and then flying home again to wait to see if I am accepted on the register.”
