Consumers reveal oldest SDAs

A recent tweet by BBC news technology reporter Zoe Kleinman about her ‘oldest functioning gadget’ has lead to the sharing of various kitchen gadgets that are still serving consumers. These include a Kenwood mixer dating back to 1964, a 20-year-old Breville sandwich toaster, and a 33-year-old Braun juicer.

One consumer shared a photo of a working toaster dating back to 1925, while broadcaster Mariella Frostrup is proud of her 25-year-old Magimix food processor. A Sunbeam iron from 1977 is one consumer’s wedding present that ‘lasted longer than the marriage.’

Another consumer is still using her Prestige High Dome pressure cooker, which was a Christmas present in 1975, while her mother’s identical one – from Christmas 1953 (and passed on six years ago) – is also still working.
