Freight focus for BHETA

International freight (and its current challenges) was the focus of the latest Ask the Expert forum hosted by BHETA (The British Home Enhancement Trade Association) this week (March 10).

Carolyn Hough from logistics specialist Dascher (a BHETA business service provider) answered questions from housewares suppliers on the impact of Brexit on duty, customs rates and Incoterms.

13- BHETASubject matter included Incoterms (DDP and DAP and associated VAT implications for the EU, Northern Ireland and Eire), EU VAT registration, rules of origin, the rise in freight costs and freight delays at borders and ports.

“Over the last year the cost of a container from China has increased by five to six times. Members need to know whether there is anything that can be done to mitigate the costs and / or when prices may come back down,” acknowledged BHETA marketing manager, Steve Richardson.
