With over 200 years of excellence in homewares, the iconic Peugeot brand has announced the opening of its new subsidiary in the UK: Peugeot Saveurs UK, which began trading this month.
The UK business is the company’s fourth distribution subsidiary (joining North America, Germany, and Belgium). It is managed by Chris Gee, who has extensive experience in the housewares sector. Chris most recently headed up the European and USA operation for the Sasa Demarle Group, and has previous managerial experience with Le Creuset, Groupe SEB and Bosch.
Championing design excellence, ease of use and taste enhancement, Peugeot Saveurs was established in France in the early 1800’s. Peugeot Saveurs’ original steel grinding mechanism has made the brand a global market leader in pepper mills for home and hospitality, offering a lifetime guarantee. The brand’s portfolio also includes wine accessories, glassware and ceramic bakeware. Its Kronos Coffee Mill won the Top Tool and Gadget Award in the Excellence in Housewares 2020.
“The UK is the third largest European market for tableware and cookware, so opening a subsidiary here is the next logical step for Peugeot Saveurs,” comments Chris Gee, managing director of Peugeot Saveurs UK. “It marks a real investment by the Peugeot family (represented by Peugeot Frères Industrie) into their long-term growth and provides an opportunity to more closely support our UK trade partners in the retail and the hospitality channels, as well as to significantly invest behind the brand for the first time in the UK. “
Chris continues: “The Peugeot brand brings with it an incredible heritage of excellence and innovation in this sector, and I am delighted to present these fantastic French-made products to UK consumers.”
Sébastien Zott, ceo of Peugeot Saveurs France adds: “The opening of a UK subsidiary is a key part of the group’s geographical diversification strategy, and I am pleased to welcome Chris and his UK team into the wider Peugeot Saveurs family. We have ambitious plans for the UK business, and we will work closely with Chris to help it develop and grow, meeting our aim of reaching a significant established turnover within six years”.
In 2020, Peugeot Saveurs SNC recorded a 10% increase in turnover despite the pandemic, reflecting its continued new product development, a strong digital focus, investment in the brand and the support of all partners. The brand aims to increase turnover by 15% to 20% in 2021.
Peugeot Saveurs UK has joined BHETA, with BHETA’s housewares sector manager Seema Grantham recognising the brand’s “wonderful reputation for French style and gourmet quality.”
