Energy saving tips from eSpares

As energy prices soar, online spare parts retailer eSpares has compiled energy saving tips for small electrical appliance stockists to share with consumers.

For example, in hard water areas, filter water before boiling it in the kettle and descale kettles regularly to save energy. Only boil what you need, using water levels indicators, and don’t overfill.

Moreover, instead of boiling water in a pan on the hob, boil the water in your kettle first – it’s much more efficient.

Using a toaster is much more efficient than using a grill to toast food, and so is using a microwave to heat food rather than an oven.

Slow cookers often use less energy than an oven and are great for bulk cooking, which avoids heating the oven multiple times.

Avoid overcharging cordless vaccum cleaners, unplugging as soon as charged. Always empty vacuum cleaner bags or bin sas soon as they reach capacity. Overfull bags and bins will mean the vacuum has to work harder, using more energy. Make use of different vaccum nozzles to fulfil the right task more quickly.

Leaving your appliances on standby uses small amounts of energy which can add up, so switch off and unplug appliances more often when they’re not in use.

If an SDA develops a fault, don’t ignore it. To diagnose appliance faults and fix many faults following step-by-step guides see the eSpares Advice Centre.
