Exclusively reveals second style trend

Phil Pond from Exclusively’s trend forecaster, Scarlet Opus, has released a pre-show insight into the second macro-mood – Reimagine.

In the second trends update from The Exclusively Show (11 and 12 June at the Business Design Centre), Phil has also supplied a pre-show insight into the materials and shape trends to look out for in 2024/25 and – as they move mass market – up to five years beyond.

Phil explained: “Reimagine consumers are focussed on the positives. They are an optimistic bunch looking for new ideas, different ways of doing things, and opportunity. They want authenticity, hate waste and consumer excess and equally any kind of greenwash that misleads on eco or disguises reality. So, this is all about genuine new ways to do things which honestly benefit the planet and can be celebrated as such.

“In terms of shapes, there is a great opportunity to make a statement with bold round shapes, playful and confident. Chunky, even spherical, and bubble-like will certainly hit the mark.

“In terms of materials, there is cause to celebrate evidence of mending, recycled product, and imperfections if they can attain their own aesthetic. Visible mending is a positive as is reinvention and combinations of recycled materials such as broken glass, imperfect glass, wool, resin, sewn together fabric.”

Chair of Exclusively, Will Jones commented: “Exclusively has a well-established reputation for predicting the commercial trends in housewares, gift, and small domestic electricals and this year will be no exception. Visitors can enjoy trend talks, trend tours for buyers and displays of exhibitors’ products pre-selected for being particularly ‘on trend’.”
