BHETA to speak at DBT Global Connections event

BHETA’s coo, Will Jones will be guest speaker at the Department of Business & Trade (DBT) export event, Global Connections.

The event takes place in Мilton Hill House, Steventon, Milton Hill, Abingdon OX13 6AF from 9am – 4pm on 12 November.

Subtitled ‘Unlocking the EU market for retail and consumer goods’, the event is designed to give delegates the confidence and insights needed to succeed in trading with EU countries. It is aimed at both experienced exporters and companies new to overseas trading and will table strategies and views from industry experts, as well as next steps and other practical takeaways. There will also be networking opportunities with fellow exporters and industry peers.

The event format includes presentations and hands-on roundtable discussions with leading EU specialists. Topics will include regulatory hurdles, logistics solutions, and sector-specific opportunities.

Agenda items include:

  • Overview of DBT
  • Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce
  • Simply VAT
  • Trade with Europe
  • Trade associations panel
  • DBT export champions panel
  • Q&A and roundtable sessions.

Will Jones will be joined on the rostrum by Paul Alger MBE, international business director at UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT) and Carys Ayton-Smith, regulatory affairs manager at the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA).

BHETA marketing director, Steve Richardson commented: “This is a Government DBT event, but the opportunities for BHETA members are such that we are strongly encouraging attendance by suppliers who have overseas trading interests. The collaboration is one of a number of new BHETA initiatives to prioritise export, especially in regard to unlocking the EU.”
