BHETA walkers raise £845 for Rainy Day Trust

BHETA’s (British Home Enhancement Trade Association) team of walkers/runners has so far raised £845 for industry charity, The Rainy Day Trust (RDT) following a collective sponsored walk (or run). The team also smashed its target distance by 299 miles.

Membership services manager, Nicola Adams (who organised the fundraiser) explained: “The original idea was to cover 509 miles between us prior to Christmas, that being the distance between BHETA’s most northerly member, housewares manufacturer, Aydya based in Dundee and the most southerly, heating and plumbing supplier, Select Products based in Torbay.  But we hit that target way before the deadline, so we doubled it to make a ‘round trip’ of 1018 miles.

11 -RDT-logo-no-caption-300x64“In the end we did 1317 miles in total between nine of us. We are hoping that the industry will continue to sponsor the team, so we can raise some much-needed funds for our industry charity, the RDT in these difficult times!”

The BHETA 1000 Mile Walk team comprised Nicola Adams, Helen Farnell and Zia Miah from BHETA member services, marketing manager, Steve Richardson, chief operating officer, Will Jones, executive chairman, Andrew Weiss, finance director, Clare Holland, housewares sector manager, Seema Grantham and DIY sector manager, Keeley Vernon.  Each participant walked or ran as many miles as they could between November and Christmas individually, recording the distances achieved.

Nicola continued, “The idea of covering the miles individually – but towards a collective target – was a fun team venture which could be done within the pandemic regulations.  We’d like to thank everyone who sponsored the team and ensured we could raise money for The Rainy Day Trust, especially as it is the only charity which exists solely to help people who work or have worked in the UK’s home improvement and enhancement industry.”

Donations can still be made using the BHETA JustGiving Page.
