With ten factories throughout Brazil, Tramontina is highlighting the company’s capacity to bridge any supply shortages during the coronavirus outbreak.

Alex Frubel, managing director of Tramontina UK reflects: “The cancellation of the Chicago show is a wake-up-call to the hugely detrimental effect that Covid 19 (Coronavirus) is having on our sector, and indeed, many other sectors, and seems likely to get worse before it gets better.”

With UK suppliers and retailers facing potential supply issues due to a slowdown in production in China, Alex points out: “So far, coronavirus has not become as much of an issue in Brazil as it is in Europe and the Far East”, continues Alex, “so, that means that our production units have not suffered the same issues.”

Tramontina produces a hugely diverse range of products for the housewares sector as well as gardening equipment, toys, furniture, equipment for agriculture and construction, electrotechnical hardware for transmission lines,  and specialised equipment for the electrical and power industries.

Although the bulk of its production is for Tramontina branded products, some of its production capacity goes to the manufacture of items for other companies.

“Amidst all the uncertainty around the influence and effects of Covid 19, as hard as it is, we must try to remain positive,” reflects Alex.
