Countdown to Top Drawer

Modern and Classic Home areas will feature in the dedicated Home sector at Top Drawer Spring/Summer, opening this weekend (London Olympia, January 13-15). With an ‘out of the ordinary’ theme, Top Drawer features a myriad of unique products from a global edit of 1,500 design-led international and British brands.

Forma House will launch a raft of new products from various cutting edge brands across four stands in the Home Modern Zone. It will be introducing Born in Sweden, which ‘celebrates the Swedish lifestyle, making it possible for everyone to bring a little bit of Sweden into their homes.’ The Swedish company was founded in 2008 and uses recycled raw material wherever possible. Its kitchenware includes the Hex Wine Rack, tea towels, trays and a utensil holder.

Products for entertaining (including al fresco dining) are also a major feature for Forma House, including the new ‘In the Light of Spring’ range from Eva Solo, which is an exclusive UK launch.

Also in the Home Modern Zone, Serax will showcase three unique ranges with interesting design stories. Internationally acclaimed Dutch chef, Sergio Herman is the creative force behind Surface for Serax, including tableware, cookware, cutlery, glasses and knives. Sergio says his inspiration comes from the “raw nature around Zeeland” with its “rough textures and beautiful imperfections.”

Meanwhile, Pascale Naessens has created ‘pure by Pascale Naessens for Serax’. Pascale is a former model and now bestselling culinary author in Belgium as well as an acclaimed ceramic artist. Serax has also collaborated with Merci, the Parisian concept store and designer furniture store.

Alongside Home, Top Drawer features Table – the luxury tableware presentation aimed at the global hospitality industry. The line-up includes Sango, which is presenting Ora, a new tableware range designed by Robin Levien RD (of Studio Levien), one of Britain’s most consistently successful product designers of the last 25 years.

In an interview with the Top Drawer team, Robin said: “I am very excited about the launch of Ora and delighted that it will be at Table, the first dedicated luxury tableware show for Food & Beverage.” He admitted: “I got hooked on ceramics as a 15 year old schoolboy and have thought about it almost every day for over 50 years now.”

Robin commented on his new range: “The brief was for a distinctive organic design but not too polarising. We all love sea washed pebbles and they felt like the perfect inspiration for Ora, which is the Latin for beach.”
