Denby introduces Kiln Blue

Kiln Blue joins the Kiln Tableware Portfolio in 2024, inspired by the colours and textures found in the natural world.

Kiln Blue is a combination of glazing techniques unique to Denby, which create an effect resembling sea waves.

Designed to sit with other inky blue ceramics or alone as capsule items, Kiln Blue is designed for the way we live – the place setting items are restrained and uncomplicated. The soft white toned glaze and inky blue stipples, along with the dramatic reactive glaze, combine to create pieces of art.

The Denby hand-dipped glaze effect is used on the taller items and creates the layers of colours and texture found in the depths of a wave.

All handcrafted in Derbyshire from local hardy stoneware clay, each piece is created by 20 pairs of hands and uses artisan studio pottery inspired effects such as hand applied dappled spraying and over dipped glazing, and comprises of multi-functional pieces for eating, serving, and displaying in any room in the house.

Pattern design manager, Nicola Wilson, commented: “Kiln Blue follows Kiln and Kiln Green in being inspired by the colours and textures found in the natural world. Code named ‘Seascapes’, Kiln Blue is a response to the qualities of flowing water. The two glazes used in the collection echo the movement and multi-faceted tones of the sea’s waves as they combine.

“The trend for blue shades in interiors shows no sign of abating with interior magazines and trend forecasting agencies predicting its longevity.”

Place setting items are available as single-items or as part of a boxed set option for gifting, all in recyclable packaging. In addition to tableware pieces, there are gift boxed home fragrance pieces, vases and accessories such as glassware and seagrass placemats.

Intended to be used and enjoyed every day, Kiln Blue is dishwasher, microwave, freezer and oven safe and made to Denby’s awarding winning ethical and sustainability criteria.
