Dreamfarm scooped two of the IHA Global Innovation Awards (gia) Global Honorees for Excellence in Product Design, presented in Chicago on Saturday (March 5). The brand (distributed in the UK by Forma House) won Kitchen Hand Tools + Cutlery Award for itsBrizzle – a scoop and drizzle basting brush, as well as the Kitchenware Award for its Spina, a spin and strain colander.
The double win at the gia Award night follows a dramatic week for Dreamfarm, where its office and warehouse in Australia were hit by floods, with around 80% of the area’s average annual rainfall over three days at the end of February.
On hearing the good news from the gia Awards night, Cate McDermott, Dreamfarm’s special projects manager told HousewaresNews.net: “We can’t help but laugh that while we’re mucking in and cleaning up our warehouse after the recent floods in Brisbane, we’re also cleaning up at the gia awards in Chicago! It’s incredibly special to be chosen as gia winners again, but we’re especially proud to be the only brand taking home awards in two categories.”
She continued: “We were of course particularly chuffed to be sharing centre stage with one of our first retailers, and still one of our biggest supporters, Pat from Make Designed Objects. It was a big night for the Aussies, and we’re thrilled for Pat and his team on their big win too!”
The other gia Global Honorees for Product Design included ZoomBroom Tornado (Cleaning), Grand Fusion Housewares’ Leakproof Silicone Non-Stick Baking Mat (Cook + Bakeware), The Steamery Cirrus Number 3 (garment steamer) from The Foundation (Household + Home Electrics), Jura Z10 (Personal Electrics), Cooking Pal’s Multo (Smart Home), Georg Jensen’s Sky Drinking Bottle (Sustainable Products) and Gourmet Kitchen Works’ Olipac Filare (Tabletop). Exhibiting in The Inspired Home Show’s Inventors’ Corner, The Wine Grasp Company’s wineGrasp Single won the Home Décor + Gifts category.
“Congratulations to these Global Honorees of the 2022 IHA Global Innovation Awards for Excellence in Product Design; they represent the cutting-edge innovation and creativity that is driving the housewares industry today,” said Derek Miller, IHA president and ceo. “Our world-renowned gia programme is the premier awards event in the industry, honoring excellence in both housewares retail and product design.”
The 65 finalists in all categories were featured in the New Product Showcases in the Buyers Clubs around The Inspired Home Show (March 5-7) and the 13 category Global Honorees were on display in the Hall of Product Innovation.
