Dreamfarm’s Kickstarter success

Dreamfarm’s first product on Kickstarter, the new Ortwo grinder reached full funding after just four days. Ortwo is “the world’s first pepper mill to combine the convenience of one-handed grinding with the extra speed, ease, and a never-seen-before output when grinding with one hand or two,” explains Dreamfarms’ PR and social media manager, Cate McDermott.

The grinder was showcased at Top Drawer Autumn/Winter on Forma House’s stand and is currently being stocked by Lakeland in the UK before becoming available to the wider UK trade in 2019. There are also plans for an Ortwo Lite, which will be at a lower price point.

Cate reflects on Dreamfarm’s decision to put the new product on Kickstarter’s global consumer funding plaftform: “There are a number of benefits to us launching Ortwo on Kickstarter, including the exposure to a community of people who crave innovation and may not have come across us otherwise, as well learning which countries the product is likely to do well in and where we should focus our marketing efforts.”

She reports: “Something that has surprised us is the number of people that are pledging for more than one Ortwo.  We assumed that people would create the perfect salt and pepper mix in their Ortwo, or simply unscrew the jar and change it over to the spice jar (there is a compatible spice jar system that will follow Ortwo’s launch) but there is a high proportion of backers that have pledged for two or even four Ortwos.” Cate adds: “There’s even a backer in Singapore who has pledged for 10 so he has plenty for gifts for family and friends!”
