‘Eco-friendly’ Housewares Show

The Housewares Show opens its doors to all independent retailers on Wednesday March 4, following its AIS members’ day on Tuesday March 3.  The show will provide retailers with inspiration for attention-grabbing store displays as well as insights into the major trends for Spring/Summer 2020 with curated trend areas, including eco-friendly products.

Suppliers at The Housewares Show are helping to fight the ‘war on plastic’ by offering more sustainable products than ever. Many are also focusing on environmentally friendly processes across the whole of their business including materials, packaging and shipment.

Deborah Goulthorpe, organiser of The Housewares Show comments: “We are pleased that most of our suppliers have strong eco credentials, which can be seen not only in the finished product, but also in the packaging and management of their supply chain and manufacture.”
She reports: “The show entrance is dedicated to sustainability with products and editorial content; assisting our members to pull together the “must have” products and back this with authority. In addition, suppliers will be signposted with an eco symbol to illustrate where they have eco product to promote.”

Highlights at the show include SodaStream, returning to the AIS show with its “Cage of Shame” in the eco-product area, highlighting the concern for single-use plastics. This will be supported with a plethora of products from across the supply base that illustrates recycled, biodegradable and natural products.

Horwood Life has a large presence at the show with its biodegradable housewares products under the Smidge and Eco Soul brands. Addis, Brabantia and Lock and Lock will present recycled initiatives and there will be a plethora of hyrdration options from the likes of Thermos, Brita, Contigo and KitchenCraft.

Eddingtons will present a large range of natural solutions including Bees Wrap (the reusable and eco-alternative to cling film and foil which is derived from natural beeswax) and its “If you care” range. Another exciting return to the show is Easyiyo – reducing the need for yogurt pots. Eco Chic will also be showcasing its new ranges made form 100% recycled material.
