Excellence in Housewares 2020 Winners Revealed

The winners of the Excellence in Housewares Awards 2020 have been revealed during a virtual ceremony, which bought together hundreds of members of the housewares industry from all around the UK, Europe and across the globe.

Retailers, suppliers and industry figures got together in the EIH Session Rooms to network and celebrate, and used the capabilities of the Hopin event platform to exchange chat and congratulate winners during the ceremony itself as well as reach out to friends and colleagues.

The EIH Awards production included an exclusive and uplifting interview with author, tv presenter and winner of The Great British Bake Off (GBBO) Nadiya Hussain as well as a guest appearance from GBBO judge and culinary superstar Prue Leith.

Speaking from her own kitchen, Prue was delighted to announce that: “The Excellence in Housewares Awards’ Winner of The Multiple or Small Group Retailer of the Year is Lakeland.” Prue (a self confessed Lakeland fan who launched her own range with the retailer this year) congratulated the team and described the Award as “very well deserved.” It was the retailer’s second award of the night, also winning The Excellence in Retailer Initiative Award for its MyLakeland loyalty programme.

Le Creuset is another double trophy winner, for both Excellence in Marketing and the new Licensing Award. Meanwhile, the winners’ line-up includes those picking up their first Excellence in Housewares trophies: CellarDine and Falcon Products in product categories, and, in retail categories, Camp Hopson, Newbury and Garsons in Esher.

The ultimate award of the evening, The Oustanding Achievement Award went to Antony and Richard Joseph, co-founders of Joseph Joseph. In acceptance speeches, the Joseph brothers paid homage to retailers and fellow suppliers for their support when launching their new brand some 17 years ago.

Opening the Awards, Progressive Housewares and HousewaresNews.net’s Rob Willis, director / co-owner at Max Publishing and Jo Howard, editor of Progressive Housewares / HousewaresNews.net acknowledged the tumultuous events of 2020:

“This year, home cooked food has become not just a source of nourishment and sustenance, but a source of comfort, reassurance and coming together,” reflected PH editor Jo Howard. “It’s hard to see, in the 21 years of The Excellence in Housewares Awards, when the housewares industry has been more important in providing essential tools for living, sharing and caring.”
