The International Housewares Association (IHA) has announced the 65 finalists in the IHA Global Innovations Awards (gia) for product design. Global honorees in each of 13 categories will be announced during the invitation-only giadinner, along with retailer global honorees. The gia gala event coincides with the International Home + Housewares Show (IH+HS) in Chicago, and will be held on the evening of Saturday, March 2.

The gia product finalists include Dreamfarm’s Ortwo Grinder, GEFU Flexicut and the Tovolo Chop N Spin Garlic Chopper in the Kitchen Hand Tools and Cutlery category. Addis Housewares’ Fold Flat Laundry Basket, Brabantia’s Bo Touch Top Trash Can and Stasher’s Stand-Up Stasher are among the Home Organisation & Storage finalists. Tabletop includes the Kilner Breakfast Jar, Thermos’ 18-oz Stainless Steel Guardian Food Jar and Magisso’s Visibility Bottle. Bee’s Wrap Assorted 3 Pack in Oceans Print is in the Kitchenware category, while Full Circle’s Scrub Queen Replaceable Toilet Brush is a finalist in Bath & Personal Care.

More than 400 entries were received and were judged by a panel of industry experts and news media. The finalists and global honorees will be on display in the Hall of Global Innovation in the Lakeside Centre Lobby as well as in the New Product Showcases located in the Buyers Clubs at the IH+HS.

“Congratulations to all of the finalists for an IHA Global Innovation Award for product design,” said Derek Miller, IHA president. “Our world-renowned giaprogramme is the ultimate awards event in the industry, honoring excellence in housewares retail, product design and booth presentation.”

Chicago’s International Home + Housewares Show (10am on March 2 to 3pm on March 5) will feature more than 2,200 exhibitors and 60,000 total attendees.
