Hong Kong’s source of home inspiration

‘Smart home,’ encompassing housewares and home textiles, is one of the four themes of Hong Kong’s International Sourcing Show (ISS). The hybrid show – organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) – takes place in both online and physical formats for 2021. The digital sourcing show starts next week, from March 17-31, while the physical fair takes place from July 26-29 in Hong Kong.

‘Your Source of Inspirations’ is the theme of the ISS, which brings together seven trade fairs that would have been held in the spring, including the Hong Kong Houseware Fair and Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair.

The online event includes Intelligence Hub, with a series of free webinars featuring industry professionals, with insights and information on the latest trends and opportunities that help businesses adapt to market changes.
The ISS also offers Click2Match, an online DIY business matching tool which uses AI technologies to conduct matching between potential business partners. The platform also helps participants schedule meetings, get together for video conferences, chat in real time and exchange e-business cards.

If buyers find a minimum of four suppliers to meet via the dedicated Click2Match platform between March 22-31, they have a chance to wine £30 cash vouchers to spend at highstreetvouchers.com

Among highlights at next week’s digital show is a Japanese ‘pavilion’ with housewares products available from some of its 40 exhibitors.

Meanwhile, to encourage overseas companies to exhibit at the physical ISS in Hong Kong in July, the Hong Kong government, through the Convention & Exhibition Industry Subsidy Scheme (C&E), has confirmed that each exhibitor (either local or overseas) will be subsidised with 50% of their participation fee, or to a cap of US$1,282 per a 9sqm booth, and a maximum of ten 9sqm booths (ie US$12,820) per company for each fair organised by HKTDC. No prior approval is required for this subsidy, which is offered on a one-off basis.

New exhibitors from the UK include Jogroup, showcasing its W10 collapsible double-walled travel cup (for hot and cold drinks) with a stainless steel outer shell and a BPA-free plastic liner. “Our innovative and patented design has attracted a lot of interest from international buyers,” reports Tracy Murphy, Jogroup’s creative director.

She continues: “We have talked to more than 100 new buyers from different parts of the world including Hong Kong, India, Mainland China, Taiwan, Spain, Switzerland and the US. More than 10% of these new buyers are expected to place orders with us after the fair. The Hong Kong fair also provides a good opportunity for us to increase our exposure in the Asian market.”
