IHA announces the IBC Global Forum

Taking place in Rosemont, Ill, from 3-4 October, 2023, the forum is for housewares execs looking to grow their global sales and suppliers.

The annual meeting of the International Business Council provides a platform for attendees to learn from key retailers, distributors and specialists discussing relevant export topics and providing education on market entry, global product development and marketing strategies.

Overviews by key housewares buyers and distributors covering Canada, China, Eastern Africa, India, Ireland, LATAM, Spain & Portugal and the UK, along with sessions on opportunities in key markets, are on the agenda.

The Global Forum is sponsored by the IBC, a group of IHA members dedicated to increasing their international business. It is open to IBC and non-IBC members and sessions are designed for novice and experienced sales execs.

This year’s session is being held concurrently with the Chief Housewares SuperSession (CHESS) – IHA’s annual senior-level conference for industry leaders.

The speakers will provide opportunities for companies looking for export leads, and include two retailers in the Americas – Canadian Tire and Sodimac. Caroline McPhearson, vp of merchandising at Canadian Tire will discuss the retailer’s strategies for purchasing home and housewares products.

A store with presence in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Uraguay, Sodimac has six store formats. Patricia Barreiro, gmm, home decor, and Melissa Garza Cantu, gmm, Housewares, Mexico, will discuss the nuances of the LATAM market, Sodimac’s purchasing strategies, and what makes an ideal supplier.
