In what might be considered the most significant Retail Barometer in its 16-year history, independent cookshops and housewares stockists are urged to take part in this year’s annual survey (organised by Progressive Housewares and HousewaresNews.net) during the week ahead. The closing date for responses is the end of next week (March 20).
All responses will help to create a picture of the vitally important independent housewares sector: its trials, tribulations, challenges and achievements, and the extent to which the pandemic has impacted the sector.

“Please tell us how it is,” says Rob Willis, Progressive Housewares’ publishing director. “We want to hear about the experiences of all independent cookshops and housewares stockists from all around the UK, so please make your voices heard and help us create an insightful picture.”
He added: “Whether this is the first time you’ve taken part in the Retail Barometer or if you’ve contributed over the years, we want to hear from you if you are an independent that sells housewares.”
Most responses are tick box, with all individual responses remaining confidential). There is also a space to add comments anonymously. The collective findings of the Retail Barometer will be presented in the next issue of Progressive Housewares (March/April).
