John Lewis’ Christmas survey (released prior to the announcement of the new four-week lockdown in England) reveals that more consumers have been preparing for Christmas early, both in-stores and online.
The survey (conducted by OnePoll on behalf of John Lewis) found that 60% of people were intending to finish their Christmas by end of November. Whereas people plan to spend less, there will be a resurgence of homemade gifts.
The department store states that sales of its Christmas baking kits are up 65% with customers already looking for festive activities to do.
*John Lewis and Waitrose have announced their Christmas campaign to help families that are struggling to cope during the pandemic. They will partner with two charities: FareShare, which helps those facing food poverty and Home-Start, which works with parents who need support. The retailers aim to raise £5m.
