Matalan reopens housewares focused stores

Housewares and fashion retailer Matalan started to reopen some stores in England on Monday (May 18) addressing needs and demands for ‘essential’ home goods. The 15 selected sites are ‘spacious stores with large Homeware departments and a Click and Collect service.’  The retailer says that it was galvanised by ‘the change in Government guidance on 1st May to include Homeware as essential retail in England.’

Matalan states that can offer consumers and staff the ‘safest shopping environment’ with ‘enhanced health and safety measures and strict social distancing guidelines.’ All employees have been trained appropriately and have PPE.

The stores that have opened (including Basildon, Halifax, Milton Keynes, Truro and Walsall North) are situated in out of town shopping parks, with parking space outside.
