NEW EIH Awards categories

The newly launched Excellence in Housewares Awards 2020 sees an exciting refresh in its line-up of categories to ensure these prestigious awards reflect the evolving housewares industry, including increasingly significant retail avenues and product sectors. Changes include product, retail and special awards categories.

New retail awards include Best Supermarket RetailerBest Garden Centre Retailer and Excellence in Online Retailing. All (bricks and mortar) independent cookshops with up to three shops are eligible for The Independent Cookshop of the Year 2020.

Housewares retailers with four or more stores are eligible for the Multiple or Small Group Retailer of the Year 2020. The Excellence in Housewares Awards continue to recognise department stores (independent plus multiple/group) and the importance of display, training, retailer initiatives and star employees.

Commenting on the change, Rob Willis – Director at Max Publishing which owns and organises the Excellence In Housewares Awards said: “Retail is ever-changing and of course will change further in the short to medium term as consumers re-engage with live shopping experiences. These new and updated categories reflect these new channels that suppliers are working hard to expand within – it is right that we recognise this growth which can only be good for the sector at-large.”

Meanwhile, the Honorary Achievement Award has been renamed the Outstanding Achievement Award, recognising ambitious and notable achievements from all ages in the sector, in addition to the long-serving members of the trade.

The Special Awards for suppliers now includes the Excellence in Product Development Award (along with the coveted Marketing and Service Awards).

Jo Howard, editor of Progressive Housewares and HousewaresNews.net comments: “This awards programme is exciting as it is, but to make changes and allow for the latest in trends, product development and indeed the chance for all industry executives to be recognised makes for an exciting line-up this year – we can’t wait to see the entries and move into the judging process.”
