Orthex expands team

Orthex Group, the leading Nordic producer of consumer household products, has added to its sales team in the UK as part of a concerted strategy to continue to grow the business.

Joining as area sales manager, Danny Smith has an extensive sales career across a number of sectors, most recently heading up a UK division selling licensed product into grocery, department stores and fashion. Prior to that, Danny managed a sales team for over 10 years in events, supplying retail and shopping centre clients.

The Orthex Group UK office opened in 2017 and has focused sales on the group’s clever storage solutions brand SmartStore, specifically the Compact, Classic and Basket lines. Orthex exhibited at Exclusively Housewares for the first time in 2019. At the recent Ambiente, the Group launched new sustainable ranges. These included the SmartStore Collect range of recycling bins and containers made from post-consumer recycled plastic with bamboo lids, and the GastroMax Bio range of chopping boards and kitchenware using a new and unique ’bio’ composite material made from renewables (sugarcane and Swedish wood fibre). The latter was awarded the German Design Award 2020 at the start of this year

Craig Sammells, Orthex Group country manager UK & Ireland, said of Danny’s appointment: “Due to our growth in the UK and increased consumer awareness of the Orthex brands, it was important we increased our physical presence within the UK. This is primarily to continue to provide the level of customer service – something Orthex is renowned for across Europe – to both existing clients and those we are in discussions to join us, and Danny’s appointment enables us to do this.”
