Showcasing the Pebbly range at the recent Exclusively Show (Islington June 14-15), the French brand’s co-founder Nicolas Roque says his mission is to “eliminate plastic waste in kitchen housewares, reduce food waste and provide innovative zero waste solutions.”
The latter includes the Pebbly compost bin (also part of the Exclusively Trend area) which “looks nice so people want to leave it out,” notes Nicolas.
Having been a surfer for many years before founding Pebbly with his wife Amy, Nicolas is very aware of the degradation caused by waste plastic. However, he emphasises the importance of finding planet-friendlier solutions that also make life easier, stating: “It’s important that sustainability doesn’t become a chore.”
Pebbly’s products – now distributed by Tradestock in the UK) – include stackable storage containers, as “more and more people are buying loose products such as pasta, nuts and rice.” The cotton bag which forms the packaging for the Pebbly breadbin is designed to be a bread bag, which consumers can use when they shop for loose loaves.
Moreover, Pebbly’s jar for chocolate and nut spreads is packaged in a cotton bag which can be used to buy loose nuts, so consumers can make their favourite spreads at home.
