Just over half way through the month, and the ‘Progressive Pedometers’ team from Progressive Housewares and HousewaresNews.net has reached 1,039,060 steps for the Mad March Million. The fitness challenge is raising vital funds for industry charity The Rainy Day Trust to help alleviate poverty in the UK.
Teammates are finding different ways to step up for the challenge, with super sprinter and product page editor Emma Cain leading the way (with a record 24,810 steps in one day). Meanwhile editor in chief Jakki Brown is getting up by the crack of down to put in multiple miles, and publishing director Rob Willis is braving all the elements when detaching himself from his desk at the end of each working day.
Advertising manager John Barry is blasting his eardrums with excessive audio exposure as he traverses pavements at all hours with his headphones on, while editor Jo Howard is plodding through muddy fields while training rescue dog Bly.
“Huge thanks to everyone that has supported us so far with donations and words of encouragement, including a very generous donation from our friends at Meyer,” says PH’s Jo Howard.
She adds: “There’s still plenty of time to add your support and encourage us to keep on stepping to the end of March and contribute to this really worthwhile cause. Fives, tens, more if you can…everything’s most welcome!”
