Prep Cookshop in Stoke Newington, North London joined with neighbouring shops and restaurants for a Christmas event day on Small Business Saturday (December 4). The event was also the launch of the neighbourhood’s ‘See you in Stokey’ campaign, with new branding designed by local design team Rude Studio.
Prep provided fizz and biscuits for customers on Saturday afternoon and gave away free tote bags with purchases over £50. Local festivities included mulled wine and nibbles from pubs and restaurants, a children’s choir, and carols with a gospel choir. The day culminated with the Christmas lights switch-on at Stoke Newington’s fire station Christmas tree.
Prep Cookshop also encouraged customers to support this year’s Winter Toy Appeal with donations. Prep’s owner, Holly Wilson explains: “The appeal supports families in crisis to ensure every child gets a gift to open on Christmas day, which they otherwise wouldn’t. Last year they gave 5,600 kids presents and they already have more requests from the agencies they work with as so many kids are experiencing hardship this year. It is a wonderful cause and the team who run it are incredible.”
