Prep – the Bira Cookshop and Housewares Retailer of the Year, in North London’s Stoke Newington – will join forces with other local retailers for a special Christmas event this Sunday (December 8). It is called ‘A very Stokey Christmas.’
Holly Wilson, owner of Prep, explains: “As traders in Stoke Newington we felt that our street was on the decline so for most of this year we have been rebuilding our community and this is culminating in our Christmas event that has been months in the planning.”
Activities taking place in all of the shops and cafes range from prosecco and mince pies to candle dipping and glitter lips and beards by the local beautician. A Santa’s grotto, huge raffle, choir and local musicians, and community snowball fight (with white ball pit balls for snowballs) are adding to the fun.
Shoppers can also take part in the ‘Church Street trail’ by going into all of the shops and cafes and answering a question related to the business. “We are hoping it will bring everyone out to the street for a fun day, building our community and while they’re there maybe pick up a gift or too!” says Holly.
