Writing about her new ‘dream’ kitchen in The Daily Mail (Saturday April 18), Prue Leith reveals that her wide array of kitchen tools and utensils are on show and close to hand. She has a wall devoted to industrial style hanging racks for kitchenware essentials such as graters, measuring spoons, ladles, spatulas and scissors. The bespoke kitchen is the realisation of Prue’s foodie priorities; the large space is a hub for the celebrity’s batch cooking, and will be the stage for homely entertaining when possible.
‘When it comes to design, I like canisters of ingredients within reach, visible on open shelves, and tools and utensils hanging on wall racks,’ writes Prue. The celebrity cook, author and GGBO judge adds: ‘Everything else must be in drawers so there is no scrambling in cupboards.’
Another distinctive feature of Prue’s kitchen is her old two-foot high, four tiered Lazy Susan, which she designed herself to hold her spices, bottles, jars, knives and wooden spoons. Prue reveals her ‘favourite new gadget’ is a Miele vacuum packing gadget and she is pictured using her new built in teppanyaki grill.
