Housewares suppliers at this year’s Exclusively show donated a huge five pallets of stock with a retail value of over £13,000.
This year, the Rainy Day Trust was selected by the show as its charity, and exhibitors were asked to donate products from their stands at the end of the show for the Trust to pass on to families in need or to sell for much-needed funds.
Bryan Clover, ceo of the Rainy Day Trust, commented: “The Exclusively show is always a tremendous event and so well organised. To be chosen as the charity being supported this year was amazing and we are so grateful to Will Jones, Simon Boyd and the Exclusively team for their backing and hard work in doing so much for us.
“The exhibitors’ generosity was overwhelming. Housewares suppliers have always been loyal supporters of the Rainy Day Trust, but this time they outdid themselves. It was brilliant to see a steady stream of people dropping off boxes and boxes of stock. A lot will be used to help families that are setting up home after a separation and also Ukrainians whose time with UK hosts is coming to an end after a year in the UK.”
The stock was all delivered to the Rainy Day Trust offices and is now being collated and catalogued. The charity would like to express its sincere thanks to every company that made a donation and all will be thanked on social media, as well as by letter from the ceo.
With inflation sitting around 9% and food inflation even higher, the need for the charity’s support isn’t going away any time soon, so the trust would love it if housewares suppliers could continue to support in this way.
Bryan continued: “We are more than happy to accept samples, customer returns, or items with damaged packaging. If this is something that you would like to do, please email me at bryan@rainydaytrust.org.uk. Finally we would like to say a huge thank you to the Exclusively show and every one of the suppliers that made a donation. We are truly humbled by your generosity.”
