Talking Tables’ new Right Royal Spectacle collection for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee includes the world’s first plastic-free and home recyclable hot drinks tea and coffee cups, as well as cake stands, table covers, plates, napkins and cake toppers.
As well as meeting consumer demands for recyclable and reusable products at Jubilee street parties this June, the new range appeals to nostalgia-lovers. Melanie Watt, Talking Tables’ senior designer explains: “My aim was to give this collection a hand-painted and retro feel, a more elevated look than your run of the mill Jubilee products.”
Melanie continues: “Although the items are paper, I wanted to give the impression of texture rather than being flat. I therefore looked at the original 1950s Coronation items, such as tea towels, for inspiration. I then added an element of humour to bring it up to date and provide a talking point for the table.”
