RKW: Why I sponsor the Excellence in Housewares Awards

Simon Oliver, commercial director – home and outdoor living, RKW, explains why the company supports the awards each year and why the event is an important date in the company calendar.

PH: Why do you sponsor the Excellence in Housewares Awards?

Simon: “We sponsor the Excellence in Housewares Awards as it is one of the most prestigious events in the housewares industry. We believe it’s important to support events like this as they celebrate the achievements and successes of businesses in our sector.

“For us, it’s not just about the awards; it’s also a great opportunity for everyone to come together, connect and show support for one another. Plus, it’s the perfect chance to network with friends and colleagues from across the board, making it an event we’re always excited to be part of.”

PH: Why did RKW choose Excellence in Retail Training as the category it would sponsor?

Simon: “RKW chose to sponsor the Excellence in Retail Training category because we see ourselves as guardians of the independent retailer. We believe in supporting those retailers who go the extra mile by investing in their stores and their people.

“Retailers that prioritise training and development are the ones delivering exceptional service to their customers and we want to recognise and encourage that. This category aligns perfectly with our values, as we aim to celebrate the work that drives success in the industry.”

PH: What’s your favourite thing about the awards?

Simon: “Our favourite thing about the awards is how they shine a spotlight on the incredible work happening across the industry, especially with independent retailers. We love seeing those who invest in their teams recognised for their hard work and the positive impact this brings. The awards bring everyone together, celebrating those that drive the housewares industry, and it’s inspiring to be part of that celebration.”

PH: Why do you think housewares companies and retailers should attend the awards?

“There are lots of reasons why housewares companies and retailers should attend the awards. The awards are a fantastic chance to get your brand recognised. Whether this is for an innovation, high quality, or great customer service, being a finalist or winner can be a real boost for brand reputation.

“And, as a bonus, it can give a boost to your team. Nothing is more motivating than recognition. Attending the event, regardless of the awards outcome, can be a morale boost, networking opportunity and provide market insights.”
