Scottish homeware business Selbrae House says that its Scottish and UK made housewares are proving particularly popular, contributing to a record year of sales to date, up almost 40% on the best previous year.
“2021 has been an incredible year for us so far,” confirms founder and managing director Donny Carstairs. “As a small family business we were able to adapt quickly to market demands and the change in buying habits when the pandemic hit, which has paid off. More than ever people are buying quality, natural British made gifts which we produce. The pandemic has allowed us to invest in our products and creativity which has reaped benefits as we now have a £2.5m + turnover.”
Donny continued: “With most of our products being made in Scotland or the UK, we have fortunately not experienced the same degree of supply and freight issues that other homewares companies have been hit with. If this sales growth continues, we aim to expand our production facilities again in the next couple of years.”
Selbrae House has expanded its product offering having re-focused its core values and sales strategy due to the pandemic. New trend focused products include barware and drinks ranges, and dog designs on boards, coasters, bottle stoppers and slate cheeseboards. The company has also expanded its laser etched products with four new laser machines, responding to the increasing demand for laser etched slate and wood homewares.
To keep up with demand, Selbrae House has hired eight additional shop floor staff to assist with pre-Christmas orders and additional customer service staff in the office.
