New data by WorkL (the digital tool designed to help businesses create better working environment) reveals that housewares stockists are among the happiest of the UK’s retail working environments.
Selfridges is 8th on the retail workplace ‘happiness’ list, while Dunelm is 13th, and Fenwick and Lakeland are in 21st and 22ndplace respectively. Food store and housewares stockist Whole Foods was number 5.
Retail employees questioned for the survey were across all job roles, including shopfloor, distribution centres and head office. They were asked 20 questions addressing pay, communication, empowerment, wellbeing, job satisfaction and pride in working for their organisation.
However, looking at business workplaces in general, the survey did not include any retailers (of any type) in its top 200 happiest places to work; Selfridges is in 930th place.
Larger retailers of housewares that were ranked in WorkL’s survey include Waitrose (in 3,616th place) Amazon (3,923), Sainsbury’s (4,541), John Lewis (4,911) and Tesco (5,154).
