As Exclusively Housewares and Exclusively Electrical closed their doors this week (June 11-12, Islington BDC), three top independent retailers shared their show highlights with HousewaresNews.net.
Lizzy Braine, director at The Kitchen Shop, Lichfield picks some showstoppers: “”We love Dreamfarm’s Ortwo grinder, particularly as the brand has really thought about how retailers can sell this in-store with its demonstration stand and choice of display fixtures. The Sage stand was great, with lots of hands-on demonstrations; it makes a massive difference to see things working and how we can demonstrate products ourselves in-store. We really like the Sage Food Processor that peels and chips potatoes.” Lizzy adds: “The OXO stand was also good as we could try its range of peelers so we can then sell on personal experience.”
“The Shows are well organised, with a good opening time and relaxed atmosphere – it’s a pleasure to go around,” comments Alison Hobbs from Potters Cookshop, Hockley. She reports: “We liked the good package deals from Dexam, for example the Sustainability Package and using our Bira Gift Voucher at the shows. Le Creuset had some good offers that we will take advantage of for Christmas, such as its stoneware dishes, and the KitchenCraft stand had lovely displays with great products for Christmas.”
Alison continues: “In Exclusively Electrical, we loved Sage’s new small oven that also works as an air fryer and cooks virtually anything.”
At Harts of Stur, director David Conduit states: “Exclusively is still the highlight of our show calendar. The compact format works well for us, meaning that both suppliers and buyers are focused on trends and new product development, rather than the larger, full range stands on display at other shows. It’s a great launchpad for the autumn and Christmas seasons.”
