Sostrene Grene climate targets approved by SBTi

Retailer, Sostrene Grene’s 2030 climate targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

The SBTi has validated the retailer’s targets to reduce absolute CO2 emissions by 50.4% in Scope 1 and 2 and relative emissions in Scope 3 by  58.1% by 2030.

Mikkel Grene, chief executive and co-owner of Sostrene Grene, commented: “The approval of our near-term targets is a major milestone for Sostrene Grene. As a company, we have a great responsibility to reduce emissions from our activities and contribute to the Paris Agreement.

“By setting clear and concrete goals for 2030, we are prioritising the most critical measures that require immediate attention and resources. The fact that our ambitious targets have been approved by SBTi is a significant recognition that we are on the right track.”

Liv Vestergaard, head of sustainability at Sostrene Grene, added: “We are currently working on our fourth climate account and have mapped our emissions across all three scopes back to the base year of 2018.

“We have made significant reductions by phasing out single-use products, using more recycled materials, installing solar panels on our warehouse, and partnering with others in our value chain to reduce emissions.”
