Sustainability stories at Spring Fair

A Sustainability Trail is one of the new features of Spring Fair 2020 (opening this weekend at NEC Birmingham, February 2-6, Everyday opening February 1). The initiative enables buyers to connect with sustainable suppliers. Denby Brands, Hokan, Jerry Bottles, Jose Maria Ferreira and T&G are among housewares brands that are part of the trail.

Buyers can filter Spring Fair’s exhibitor list by ‘Sustainability’ and find out about sustainable stories, pledges and initiatives. Exhibitors that are part of the Sustainability Trail are marked with a leaf icon. Journalists will also be taken around the show trail to hear how companies are putting sustainability at the heart of product development.

It is also launching upcycled aprons, oven gloves, tea towels, vegetable bags and tablecloths, which are made from end-of-line linen and patterned fabric from thrift shops.

T&G (Hall 8) is showing new FSC certified beech serving and preparation boards, kitchen towel holder and utensils, and new soap ceramic dishes that are part its Ocean range, which makes contributions to the environmental charity Plastic Oceans UK.

Denby (Hall 8) is highlighting the rigorous recycling procedures in its manufacturing process. Moreover its new Modus and Impression collections are produced from stoneware clay that is extracted locally with minimal transport.

Meanwhile Jose Maria Ferreira (Hall 8) has eliminated plastic from its products and packaging, which is recyclable.
