Taylor’s Eye Witness becomes employee-owned

Kitchen knife and cutlery company, Taylor’s Eye Witness has become employee owned.

From 1 February, 2025, the Sheffield-based designer and manufacturer of kitchen knives, cutlery, scissors, tableware and accessories, which can trace its history back to 1838, is owned by an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT).

The new legal entity, Taylor’s Eye Witness (EOT) will buy the multi-generational family business to run the company for the benefit of its employees, safeguarding its future as an independent company. The EOT’s objectives are to maintain the brand’s position in the market and continue to enhance the company’s reputation for quality and innovation.

Company director, Alastair Fisher, part of the previous family ownership team, said: “The priority is to ensure that Taylor’s Eye Witness can continue to grow and prosper long into the future as an independent company, delivering the finest in product design and manufacture.

“Its reputation for quality across the board is hugely down to its people, so this move is all about protecting and enhancing that for the long term. We have been researching the EOT model for some time and know that this is the right way forward for the company. We very much value the relationships we have with our many customers are sure with new form of ownership they can go from strength to strength.”

Alastair and cousin and fellow director, Chris Inman will be remaining with the business in their current roles as sales director and operations director respectively. Alastair continued: “Operationally, very little will change.  This is all about ensuring that a long established and well-regarded company and brand can continue to thrive whilst benefitting the people that make it great.”

Taylors Eye Witness Ltd will be exhibiting at both Ambiente (Hall9.0 C35) and Indx.

In addition to designing and manufacturing its branded range from its modern premises in Sheffield, Taylor’s Eye Witness represents Kai, SKK, Veritable Sabatier and Sabatier Professional in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
