Trends and insights from Chicago

Educational sessions scheduled for Chicago’s The Inspired Home Show 2020  (including its Innovation Theatre and Smart Talks stage – organised by, the International Housewares Association, IHA) are being presented as a series of webinars. All webinars are free and some speakers have adjusted their presentations to address issues surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. Most programmes will begin at 5pm GMT (12 noon at US’ CDT). Popular webinars that have already taken place include two webinars by Pantone on colour trends hosted by the IHA.

Today (Tuesday May 19) Kathy Kimple, chief retail officer at FitForCommerce presents Digital Commerce Strategies for Surviving COVID-19 and Thriving Later.” Kathy will share how retailers and brands are reacting, innovating and applying best practices to optimise their online performance, and will outline strategies and supporting technology solutions that should be on the housewares industry’s radar in next three to six months.

On Wednesday, (May 20) David Hernandez, president of Lotus823 presentsThe Importance of Having Flexibility in Your Marketing Plan.” In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses have been affected across almost every vertical. Next week (Wednesday May 27), by Jane Freiman, founder of Kitchen Insights Group will present: “How A Successful User Experience Can Turn Your Product Into An Integral Kitchen Tool.”  Jane will explain how product suppliers can understand their target’s kitchen reality, the key principles of product testing and how to make sure they have product directions that will ensure a successful user experience.
