Independent family-run department store, Tudor Williams of New Malden will close its doors on June 29, after 100 years of trading. It will hold a ‘one million £pounds’ closing down sale, beginning on May 17.
“Despite the tremendous effort by our New Malden management and staff and the extensive refurbishment, the store has unfortunately not seen the necessary improvement in sales”, said John Morris, group managing director. He continued: “With ongoing rising costs, and the tough retail climate, it is with the greatest of reluctance we have concluded that we are unable to continue trading at the store”.
The company’s store in Dorking and Elphicks of Farnham, which has recently undergone a major refurbishment, will continue to trade.
The Lynch Sales Company, an internationally known sale event specialist, based in Tennessee, USA, who also have a branch office in Emsworth, Hampshire will coordinate the Closing Down Sale at Tudor Morris, New Malden.
