UK flies flag at Global Forum

The International Housewares Association’s (IHA) UK representatives, Sarah Selzer and Mark Chapman will make a presentation about opportunities in the UK housewares market at next month’s 2019 IBC Global Forum (September 15-17 in San Diego). The forum’s key speakers include Richard Walker, commercial director of Eddingtons who will be talking about the company’s role as a UK distributor, and provide insights on the UK housewares scene.

The Global Forum is sponsored by the International Business Council (IBC), a special interest group of IHA members who are dedicated to increasing their international business. It is open to IBC and non-IBC members, and sessions are geared toward both novice and experienced sales professionals.

Boyner, a leading department store chain in Turkey, has been added the key retailers who will speak at the forum. Boyner has more than 110 stores in 37 cities throughout Turkey and covers four sales channels, including online. Its offerings include both global and Turkish brands. Hakan Zihnioğlu, deputy general manager, sales, will describe how the retailer operates inside the Turkish retail market.

For attendees new to the IBC or new to exporting, “IBC 101: International Essentials” on September 15 will provide an overview of the international marketplace, including brief discussions on market selection, export mechanics, distribution models and international pricing. The one-hour session will be held before the opening night networking reception and dinner and also allows attendees to meet the IBC board of directors.

The main education program opens on September 16 with an Executive Education workshop by Patrick Lynch from Thunderbird School of Global Management, on steps international sales teams should take to leverage influencers in global markets. Other sessions include: Asia’s citiesocial and Spain’s Culinarium.
