Trevor Mottram, Tunbridge Wells (Independent Cookshop of the Year in the Excellence in Housewares Awards) is featured on BBC Two’s Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr next week (Tuesday February 23 8pm). It is week four of the tv show, and six interior designers are left in the battle to win the Design Master title. In this episode, designers are set the challenge of transforming three shops into destination shopping spaces.
Filming took place at Trevor Mottram at the end of September 2020, with a nearby camera shop and pet accessories shop also participating in the episode. Having picked one of two designers to forge ahead with their project, Trevor Mottram’s joint managing directors Sarah and Alan Wood voluntarily closed the shop for a few days and were barred from coming back while half of the total shop space was transformed.
When all was revealed, fortunately Sarah’s reaction is positive. “I loved it!” she told HousewaresNews.net.
Quirky features include a table setting on the ceiling, lamps made from colanders and bright ‘pops of colour,’ while new shelves and knives cabinets showcase Trevor Mottram’s extensive product range.
Old shelving was removed from the windows to create new display areas. However, when the film crew departed, Sarah confessed to filling up the sparse shelves with more realistic levels of stock.
* Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr and judge Michelle Ogundehin is on BBC Two on Tuesday (February 23) at 8pm and available to view afterwards on BBC iPlayer.
