What’s retail really like?

If you are an independent housewares stockist, please take a few minutes this week to participate in the  annual Retail Barometer survey, organised by Progressive Housewares magazine and HousewaresNews.net in association with the British Independent Retailers’ Association (Bira). This survey provides a unique opportunity to present the reality of housewares retailing focusing solely on the experiences of independents (including independent cookshops, department stores, hardware or general stores, gift or lifestyle shops and garden centres that sell housewares).

The Retail Barometer is easy to complete online and asks independent retailers to reflect on 2019, look forward and voice their opinions on positive and negative influences on their business.

Please click here to start the survey.

The results of The Retail Barometer will be published in the March/April edition of Progressive Housewares magazine, with some highlights featured on HousewaresNews.net. All participants remain confidential.

“Now in its 15th year, The Retail Barometer is an exclusive platform for independents, as all too often we hear about retailing through the eyes of big players in the mainstream news,” said Jo Howard, editor of Progressive Housewares and HousewaresNews.net.

She continued: “Taking part in this survey helps to create a fascinating bigger picture of the challenges, opportunities and achievements of independent cookshops and housewares stockists, which can help to galvanise industry action to support them further.”

The deadline for responses for the 2020 Retail Barometer is Friday February 28.

Independent department stores, hardware, home/gift or general stores and garden centres are asked to relate their answers to the housewares sections of their business.

All independents taking part in the survey will be entered into a prize draw for a hamper of goodies.
